12 Angry Men

Can anyone believe this? An entire movie, which is shot inside  a single room would become one of the classics, and yet become a top grosser?  Can a 1957  movie  still be relevant?  Is that possible? The answer is yes, and the celluloid classic is 12 Angry Men from the director Sidney Lumet, produced by Henry Fonda, who also starred in the lead character.  In one word this movie just stripped off the American Judiciary.  The movie begins with the Judge's order to deliberate a case of a young man who was acquiesced of stabbing his own father to death.   The Judge asks the members of Jury to give an unanimous verdict, and the poor boy's face fades out as the Juries assembles themselves inside their room.  Except only one of the juries all the members decide that the lad is guilty. Only one man differs and he argues with the fellow members and eventually lead to the acquittal of the lad.  What makes this film so special and very relevant even today is the way it handles the charac

A Book That Caused a Stir In TN

Bharthi Puthakalayam had released a book on Rafale Deal, the book was authored by S.Vijayn. The publishing house had arranged for a simple release session and sought Hindu.N.Ram to release it.

It should have been a simple book release function which would have left unnoticed by many. But the people at power wanted to stop the book and to confiscate it and they did exactly that.

An Officer from a Flying Squad gave a hand written letter and ordered the release function to be stopped, and confiscate all the books.

It was indeed a rude shock for the people who were behind the book, they announced this atrocity to the people who were invited to the function and told them the function had been canceled.

Later the election commission announced that  there is no such act on their behalf to stop the book and cancel the function. They gave their announcement only after the publishing house had told their friends that their function was cancelled.

Even after such an announcement people thronged towards the venue, and the book was released by Hindu.N.Ram as planed.

If this function was allowed to go on as planned the book might have reached less than 300 people, since it was banned for a while its PDF copy had spread like a wild fire. Millions have downloaded it over the internet.

For this the author and the publishing house should be thankful the Flying Squad Officer who had carried out the order passed by the ruling party.

I was among one of them who had received this book in the very odd hour of the day. I hope I had this book at 1:00 am, and I have gone through all the 48 pages.

The Indian Government has a Defense Budget for an whooping 3,50,000 crores, it is a massive sum and the men who operate will never escape from the tsunami of commission from the companies world over.

In those days when Russia was in full power India bought most of its weapons from them, later slowly drifting towards European companies.

It is a shame that our politicians are more concerned about their cut rather than the security of the nation.

This book speaks about their greed, and the way they have arm twisted the auditing agencies of our country.

Our leaders are shameless but is a shame on us that we have selected such culprits to power on the grounds of our religious fervor.

The book also pinpointed (between the lines) that in the coming days there will be more scams in the defense sector.
